Understanding The Construction Process

4 Signs You Need New Siding Installed

You want to be aware of the signs that your home needs new siding so you have your problematic materials removed and replaced with something new before you see the worsening of conditions that can become very problematic for you as a homeowner. Here is information on some signs of vinyl in need of replacement:

1. Your home needs to be repainted too often

Your home's siding should retain the color and the integrity of the paint job it has for quite a few years. If you are finding that you need to repaint your home every five or so years, then this is way too often. It is a sign that the siding should be replaced. When you have new siding installed, then you can keep your home looking great for a much longer period of time and you can save yourself the time, the hassle, and the expense of all those additional paint jobs.

2. Your siding has rotted areas

If there is any rotting of the siding on your home, then you should replace it. When the siding is rotted then this will be putting your home at risk of more problems because the siding won't be properly protecting your home from the elements. Once the siding is rotted, you will likely be able to see it when looking at the home. Otherwise, you can hit the siding with a solid object; rotted siding will have a hollow sound, it will feel soft, and debris may even fall out from the siding. You can also have a contractor find and address rotted areas.

3. Loose siding

While a very small section of siding may be inconsequential, finding a large section or several areas of loose siding is problematic. Once you see a large section or you find several of them, then you know that the best thing that you can do is to have new siding installed. When the siding is loose, it also leaves your home more susceptible to big potential problems such as water damage, mold, and pests.

4. There are mold issues

If there is mildew and mold on and under the siding, then you need to have the siding removed, have the mold dealt with, and then have new siding installed. Mold issues are big concerns for homeowners as mild can be very damaging to your home. Not only can it put the integrity of the home at risk, but it can also pose health risks for those living in the home. Once the mold issue has been dealt with, then the new siding can be installed.
